Thunderbirds

People once believed that thunder and lightning was carried on the wings of special birds. As it turned out later, this is not quite the case - as they died out. However, thunder and lightning existed for a long time until the weather ended following the three-day war. The war lasted only 3 days, during which time the people used a weapon that changed and then completely destroyed the weather Several hundred years later, the Dreamers learned how to create clouds, rain, and lightning. Unfortunately, many species disappeared during this time.

Much later, archaeological excavations showed the existence of a certain group of people who believed that the thunderbirds brought thunder and lightning with them. It is obvious that thunder had existed without them, but the Dreamers decided to create a race of such birds. There is no evidence of what the birds actually looked like, so the dreamers created a race based on the ravens, which are well described in the songs and tales of modern literature.

Special abilities

At the end of the faction's turn, you choose an enemy figure to be struck by lightning. It cannot be the king of the enemy faction. A d16 die is rolled and, depending on what value has been rolled, the damage to that figure is calculated by using the values from the table.

The value of d16 Damage
0 - 4 no damage
5 - 8 1 damage
9 - 12 2 damage
13 - 16 3 damage

Raven

Ravens may seem like ordinary birds (which also carry lightning), but they are the great force in the entire army of thunderbirds and their powers should not be underestimated.

There are 8 such figures in this faction. Raven corresponds to pawns in chess and can move in any direction one square (including backwards) as long as its path is not blocked by another figure. It can attack other figures located diagonally from them at a distance of one cell. A d8 is rolled.

Tower Raven

In the imagination of the Dreamers, all birds live in towers. Where did these ideas come from? Who knows? Perhaps from an ancient legend about it. This thunderbird has its own little tower, which it protects and loves almost as much as the Terra Sancta.

Tower Ravens correspond to rooks in chess and can move in a straight line in any direction as long as the path is not blocked by another figure or until it reaches the edge of the playing field and can attack enemy pieces in any direction (not diagonally). A d16 is rolled.

Jacob

It is impossible to explain the Dreamers' love of fairy tales. One ancient tale has been preserved about a magic potion that fulfilled a wish. The main characters were a cat and a raven named Jacob. After the war cats appeared, and the thunderbirds perched on them. The dreamers called all bird-riders Jacobs.

Jacob corresponds to knights in chess. They walk and attack using the shape of the letter L. They have the ability to jump over any figure that blocks their path. In the case of an attack with this figure, you must announce out loud the path that the figure will use to attack. A d16 is then rolled, if the enemy piece is not killed, the attacking piece must move back to any free space away from the enemy on the chosen path. See main rules for understanding knight movement.

Standard Bearer

Once upon a time, humanity had many countries, each with its own flag. Each flag represented a different country.

Though it may seem silly, the creation of flags created a division among the people as they chose to ally themselves with the flag of their chosen country.

The Standard bearer played a very important role in the war. Capturing a flag could often disable a unit, or even the entire army. For the thunderbirds, this does not matter so much, as only the death of the king could lead to the destruction of an entire army.

Thunder

All thunderbirds carry lightning on their wings, but this is a special bird that carries thunder which gives it a great amount of power. It is much bigger than the rest of the birds and has a lot of energy. Its lightning strike is much more powerful than that of the other birds.

There is only one figure and it does not have a crown. Thunder corresponds to the queen in chess. Can walk and attack sideways and diagonally in any direction for any distance as long as the path is not blocked by another figure. A d16 is rolled.

Druid

The wisest of the thunderbirds, not only carries lightning in itself, but also has the ability to summon it on the heads of distant enemies. The Dreamers themselves do not understand the physics of this process, but the thunderbirds learned that the thunderclouds are able to follow them.

The Druid corresponds to the king in chess and is able to move one square in any direction as long as the square is not occupied by another figure. He can attack in any direction. At the beginning of the game, the figure corresponding to the king is always placed on the board where the crown is drawn, regardless of the location of the factions. A d16 is rolled.
